    Junior Synchronised Swimming

    ASA AquaFun

The Sovereign Centre runs Junior Synchronised swimming courses which follow the ASA programme of AquaFun.

    When: Saturday 10:30 - 11:00

    What is AquaFun?

AquaFun is a mixture of swimming, gymnastics and dancing, these are also the basics of synchronised swimming. Courses are for 7-13 year olds and are all about learning the basics of synchronised swimming.  The focus is on fun and you’ll be able to put your dance moves to good use in the water.

    Who is AquaFun suitable for?

Swimmers need to be at Stage 7 in their lessons and able to swim at least 50m and tread water confidently as the session is in the Diving Pit.

What sort of things will I learn?

The two most important moves that you will be taught in AquaFun are sculling and the eggbeater. These are vital to synchro:

    • Sculls are the hand movements that propel the body and are the most essential part of synchronised swimming

    • Eggbeater is a form of treading water that allows you to remain stable above the water while leaving the hands free to perform strokes. Swimmers can also perform ‘boosts’, where they use their legs to propel themselves out of the water
