Class Descriptions


Smart Start Classes
New for January these classes are great for beginners and are only 30 minutes long. These classes are ideal for anyone looking to get back into exercising and work to build on your endurance, strength, stamina and over all fitness. Check out the description of each of our SmartStart classes below.
 

 

Indoor Cycling - SmartStart

This short 30 minute class is suitable for beginners and focuses on building endurance, strength, and stamina following various interval training systems on a stationary bike.

 

 

 


 

Core Blast - SmartStart

This short 30 minute class is suitable for beginners and really targets your core area. The stomach and core can be one of the hardest areas to train, so we’ve introduced a specialised Core Blast class. As its name suggests, our Core Blast class is an intense abdominal workout designed to tone the stomach area using body weight-based exercises but also other gym equipment to ensure your abs will be challenged every single time. This abdominal workout focuses on core strength and stability, giving you tighter, flatter abs or that 6 pack you've always wanted!

Circuits - SmartStart

This short 30 minute class is suitable for beginners and is an excellent way to improve your mobility, strength and stamina. The instructors focus on strengthening your lower and upper body and improving your cardiovascular system. A great class to learn new exercise ideas, correct posture and technique. Maximum number of participants in the group is 6 to ensure a quality of this class.

 

 

Aqua Splash-SmartStart

This short 30 minute class is suitable for beginners or people with various medical conditions. This is a low intensity class focused on improving strength, your cardiovascular system, and coordination and balance skills.

 

 


 

 

Aqua Fit 
Is simply an aerobic workout performed in the water typically using the water as resistance for exercises that normally are done on land.  Water-based exercise trains the entire body, with very little joint strain and is suitable for all types of people, male or female, young or old, small or large, fit or unfit.

 

BODY BALANCE®
Is the Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates workout that builds flexibility and strength and leaves you feeling centred and calm.  Using controlled breathing and a carefully structured series of stretches, moves and poses to music to bring the body into a state of harmony and balance.
 

Legs, Bums & Tums
A mix of aerobic and conditioning exercises to target these three main areas of the body. This versatile class can be tailored to ability and varies dependant on the instructor.

 

BODY COMBAT®
This fiercely energetic program is inspired by martial arts and draws from a wide array of disciplines such as karate, boxing, taekwondo, tai chi and muay thai. You will strike, punch, kick and kata your way through calories to superior cardio fitness.

 

Pilates
A low impact class which focuses on balance, posture & strength whilst enhancing mental awareness.
 

 

 

BODY PUMP®
Is the original barbell class that will sculpt, tone and strengthen your entire body. It is one of the world¹s fastest ways to get in shape as it challenges all of your major muscle groups while you squat, press, lift and curl to inspiring music with motivating instructors.
 
RPM®
Our qualified instructor will lead you over the hills and down the valleys in this 45 minute indoor cycling class. This non-impact class is highly motivating with pumping music and will help burn fat, improve stamina and tone up the lower body. This class is a fantastic calorie burner and really hits those problem areas!
 
BODYSTEP™
Is the energizing step workout that makes you feel liberated and alive. Using a height-adjustable step and simple movements on, over and around the step you get huge motivation from sing-a-long music and approachable instructors. Cardio blocks push fat burning systems into high gear followed by muscle conditioning tracks that shape and tone your body.
 

Swiss Ball
A core conditioning class using swiss balls. Great for overall toning.

 

 

 

Core Blast.
The stomach and core can be one of the hardest areas to train, so, we have introduced a specialised core blast class. As its name suggests our core blast class is an intense abdomen workout designed to tone the stomach area. The abdominal workout focuses on core strength and stability, gives you tighter, flatter abs, or the six pack you have always wanted.
 

Yoga
A low impact class, which aims to align the mind and body through a series of postures and focuses on strength, flexibility and meditation techniques.
 

 

 

 

Circuits
An excellent way to improve mobility, strength and stamina. The facilities at the Sovereign Centre offer the best opportunity for you to reach your fitness goals and to enjoy the process.

Zumba
This moving, shaking workout class combines dance moves from Latin American and International music, to create a full workout, which will let you dance your worries away!

Indoor Cycling
This class focuses on endurance, strength, intervals, high intensity and recovery using a stationary exercise bike. It’s a bit more flexible compare to a RPM class by Les Mills.

NEW - Chi Ball
The Chi Ball method is based on traditional Chinese medicine and incorporate synergy of six ancient and modern exercise philosophies to promote balance and well-being in mind, body and spirit. A typical Chi Ball class appeals to all ages and physical abilities. The class format uniquely changes its emphasis on each one of the six exercise philosophies: Tai Chi-Qi Gong, Chi Ball Dance, Yoga, Pilates, Feidenkrais method and Deep Relaxation to follow a nature’s energetic example of each season.

NEW – H.I.I.T.
High Intensity Interval Training is short intervals of extremely high-intensity exercise involving a lot of muscle mass. This requires a tremendous amount of oxygen, during both the work interval and the recovery periods. ... As a result, HIIT workouts train your body to tolerate and quickly recover from periods of high-intensity exercise. Great for Fat loss, improving your cardiovascular fitness and stamina.
