Volunteers

Would you like to work with children and young people?  Can you spare a few hours a week to help make a difference? Would you like to gain new qualifications and experience?  Why not become a volunteer?   We are currently looking for volunteers from all backgrounds with all types of experience.

Duty Manager

The duty manager is responsible for the day to day management of the leisure centre, the supervision of staff and health and safety.  We are looking for a real people person with excellent customer care skills, problem solving and time management skills.  The applicant must be able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team.
 

Lifeguard 

The lifeguard is responsible for supervising the swimming pools, cleaning and the setting up and dismantling of equipment.  Applicants must hold a current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification and possess good communication skills.

Swimming Instructor

Swimming instructors are responsible for teaching the H2O Swim Life swimming lesson scheme to children and adults of all ages and abilities.  Applicants must hold a Level 2 Full Teachers qualification and current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.

Reception

Receptionists are responsible for taking payments and bookings and providing information to customers both in the centre and over the telephone.  Applicants must have excellent customer care skills, a good telephone manner and pleasant personality

Café Assistant

Contract Type: Full Time/Part Time/Various

Description: We are currently recruiting for Café Assistants to work in our busy Café. Duties will include serving customers, preparing hot and cold food, taking orders, cash handling and cleaning. The candidate will assist the Café supervisor with the day to day duties and will be trained in order to cover the supervisor when on annual leave.

Essential Skills: Friendly, polite and helpful to customers. Focused on customer service. Able to work well in a busy environment and keep calm under pressure. A good communicator. Aware of food safety. Good at working in a team. Able to do basic maths, for taking payments.

Desirable Skills: First Aid at Work qualified, experience in the leisure industry, have a good understanding of food safety.

 


 

Health & Fitness Instructor Casual

Purpose of Job / Key Objectives

To provide inspiring fitness coaching to customers and to provide advice, guidance and programming to customers on all aspects of exercise and related subjects in accordance with the Customer Intimacy Health and Fitness programme.

Principal Duties

Provide clean, safe, warm, friendly and fun facilities. Provide safe, appropriate, fun and results focused fitness coaching to customers. Conduct customer inductions and fitness assessments. Support and guide customers to set SMART exercise goals. Maintain a full product knowledge of the services available at the centre and advise customers accordingly. Adopt a pro-active approach to continuous service improvement. Contribute to planning and marketing strategies. Supervise all customers to ensure the correct use of fitness training equipment. Commitment to maintain REPs registration and attend regular CPD training. Consistently and actively apply good housekeeping principles, such as turning off lights and equipment when not in use, in order to contribute to our strategy to reduce utility consumption and carbon footprint. Qualification Level.

Experience Level

Exercise Instruction and Coaching Exercise Programming Needs Analysis and Goal Setting Health, safety and professionalism in exercise and fitness instruction.

Essential Skills

Health and Fitness Instructors will possess a recognised qualification that allows entry at REPS Level 2.

Excellent product knowledge and experience High quality customer service skills Excellent communication skills The ability to empathise and work with customers of all age groups and levels of ability. Health and safety training and awareness Planning, marketing and sales promotional skills.

Senior Recreation Assistant

We are currently recruiting for a permanent full-time Senior Recreation Assistant based at The Sovereign Centre in Eastbourne. The SRA role is to ensure customer safety and high standards of service at all times. The Senior Recreation Assistant will supervise the work of the Recreation Assistants and assist the Duty Manager in ensuring the building is run smoothly.

Our site consists of a 25m Gala Pool with boom pool, training pool, diving pit, fun pool with flume and wave machine, gym, aerobic studio and a multi functional 4 court sports hall.

Essential

  • National Pool Lifeguard Qualification
  • Minimum 12 months leisure industry experience
  • Ability to be calm and in control in pressurised situations such as emergencies
  • Customer care skills
  • Communication skills
  • Ability to set and achieve high standards of centre cleanliness and presentation
  • Health and safety awareness
  • Ability to deal with customers of all age groups and levels of ability
  • Sustain a level of fitness to enable the physical aspects of the position to be undertaken
  • Ability to lead and supervise other team members

Desirable

First Aid at Work, Pool Plant, either studying or have completed an N.V.Q level 2, have a good understanding of health and safety and a good understanding of computers

Full Time Lifeguard

Description: We are currently recruitinga full time lifeguard to supervise our busy swimming pools. The successful candidates will be fit, healthy, and available to work a variety of shift patterns. They will have undertaken or be willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS Criminal Records Check and Child Protection Training.

Group Exercise/Fitness Instructors

Description: We are currently recruiting part time and casual group exercise instructors to assist cover and maintain our extensive range of fitness classes here at The Sovereign Centre. We have over 50 classes a week, ranging from Circuits to Yoga and Aqua Aerobics (please see our class timetable on the website for the complete list of classes).

Essential Qualifications: Level 2 Exercise To Music or equivalent.

Desirable qualifications: Les Mills certified, Zumba certified, Pilates certified, Aqua certified.

Desirable Skills: Candidates ideally would be enthusiastic and team players and maybe have some experience already teaching in a group exercise role.
