The swimming lessons offered at The Sovereign Centre are delivered in line with the ASA’s National Plan for Teaching Swimming. ASA qualified instructors guide pupils through a structured lesson programme teaching new skills and techniques in an enjoyable and safe environment.
All pupils learn at a pace individual to them; developing a variety of aquatic activities including entry into and exits from the water; buoyancy and balance; rotation and orientation, streamlining, aquatic breathing, travel and co-ordination, water safety and health and fitness.
Pupils will benefit from
Parent and baby and Swim a Song sessions for you and your child.
Non-swimmers, no parental assistance.
Developing basic safety awareness in a ‘class’ scenario, including movement and water confidence skills. Swimmers may use aids, e.g. floats etc.
Developing safe entries to the water; including jumping in. Learning basic floating, travel and rotation techniques unaided, in order to regain upright positions. Swimmers may use aids egfloats etc

Developing the understanding of buoyancy through a range of skills, refining kicking technique for all strokes, and swimming 10 metresto a given standard by the ASA.
Developing ‘watermanship’ through sculling, treading water skills, and complete rotation; also performing all strokes to the given standard as directed by the ASA.
Developing effective swimming skills including co-ordinatedbreathing; water safety aspects and understanding of preparation for exercise.
developing quality stroke technique up to 100 metres, incorporating skills learnt and combining them to develop a linked routine; complete successfully an obstacle course that combines a variety of skills accomplished during the previous stages.

Choose to pay for each course up front or to spread payments monthly by Direct Debit.
